Why Your Home Needs Hygge
One of the best parts of the wintertime is the cozy feeling that comes along with it. The cold might be brutal, but it serves as the perfect excuse to cuddle up by the fire with a hot drink and your favorite blanket. It’s hard to achieve such a level of coziness throughout the warmer months, which is exactly why decor gurus everywhere are turning to Hygge for their cozy-decor needs this spring. Here’s exactly why YOUR home needs hygge this spring, too.
The Art of Coziness
“While there’s no one English word to describe hygge, several can be used interchangeably to describe the idea of hygge such as coziness, charm, happiness, ‘contentness’, security, familiarity, comfort, reassurance, kinship, and simpleness.” It’s easy to incorporate this concept into your life; simply decorate your home so that it feels as comfortable as possible. As we approach the warmer months, however, this can be hard to achieve.
Hygge in Spring
The eternal question arises; how can I adapt this feeling into my decor for spring? Keep practicing things that remind you of the times you were cuddled up by the fire: burning candles is a great place to start. Don’t be afraid to let some light in by opening your windows and bringing a fresh breeze into your home; this will bring the life into your home that was missing during the colder months when you were cooped up inside. Last, don’t be afraid to bring greenery into your home. Just like how you would decorate with garland and wreaths, greenery in the springtime brings calmness into your home; and if you don’t have much of a green thumb, you can always buy fake greenery at Michaels!
