Labor Day is on the Way in Rochester NY

Labor Day Weekend is on the way in Rochester, NY! Some districts will already be back at school by the time it rolls around! Still there’s plenty to do and celebrate:

Labor Day Parade:

The parade will take place on Monday, September 7th at 11:00 am. The theme of this year’s parade is “Solidarity: Together We Can.” We’re keeping an eye on the website to keep you posted. Due to construction, the parade route will be changing. We’ll get the details to you as soon as possible so you can make a plan for where you want to catch the action.

Boardwalk Arcade

Coney Island, Atlantic City, anyone? This is your last chance to catch all the beeping and pinging fun of pinball, skeeball, carnival games and more at the Boardwalk Arcade exhibit at the Strong National Museum of Play. Because the festivities are inside you’ll not only have air, but you’ll be safe from the rain. Don’t miss the cardboard cut out for a great family photo op! And, you can treat yourself to a fabulous meal with some of the gas money you saved!

New York State Fair

Ready to travel for Labor Day fun? Head to the NYS Fair in Syracuse. Here’s a few reasons from the website of why you should come:

The Great New York State Fair

Every year, nearly one million people experience this affordable, 12-day celebration of the delicious food, eye-opening exhibits, captivating entertainment and outrageous fun. The Fair showcases thousands of animals, hundreds of commercial attractions, scores of exciting midway rides and dozens of big-name entertainers. And it’s all just a short trip away from wherever you live in New York State.

Now rest assured, it’s a 12-day event so not all of the nearly one million people will be there at once. The good news is that there’s something for everyone in the many events, rides and competitions that are held. You can buy your tickets ahead of time. Don’t forget to download the Vistor’s Guide to help in your planning.

New York State Festival of Balloons:

Maybe, up, up and away is more your style. If so, you’ll have to check out the 34th annual New York State Festival of Balloons at the Dansville Municipal Airport. If you’re feeling adventurous, there are tethered balloon rides, in addition to the rides and games for kids. Add in music, food vendors and arts and crafts and you’ve got an adventure for everyone.

Roc the Park

It’s the grand finale concert, A Tribute to Motown, Saturday, Sept. 5th at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park. Check out the line up and then make a plan to be there. Children 12 and under are FREE and free is good! In fact, the $5.00 general admission is great for everyone. Here’s what you can expect:

Our grand finale concert brings to the stage Carlton Wilcox and the Carlton Wilcox Live Band showcasing the best vocal talent in the Rochester area covering Diana Ross & the Supremes, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, Stevie Wonder, the Temptations, the Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson & the Jackson 5, the Marvelettes, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Lionel Richie & the Commodores, Teena Marie and more!
