Spring is here! We’re ready to spring ahead, today! How sweet it is, literally! Spring brings all things maple syrup and there are plenty of opportunities to take advantage of in the Rochester area. Here’s our updated guide to Maple Syrup Weekend, highlighting 5 places you can go to on March 19/20 or April 2/3
1. Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm
Naples Maple Farm! How fun is that to say! Well worth the trip for a pancake breakfast, product samples, tours and wood walks. Can’t make the trip?? This delightful maple syrup is available online and at the Brighton Winter Farmers Market.
2. Cumming Nature Center
Maple Sugaring Weekends: This Weekend (March 12-13th) Next weekend. (March 19-20) Trail demonstrations on the techniques used by early settlers to collect and process sap into syrup. Pancake breakfast served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. ($10, $8 for children; fee includes nature center admission). 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, March 21 to 29. 3. Genesee Country Nature Center, Genesee Country Village and Museum.
Maple Sugar Festival and Pancake Breakfast: Walk on the Maple History Trail. Hike through the recently expanded sugarbush and see trees tapped with modern tubing and stop at stations to see how collecting sap has changed over time. 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 21 and 22. Genesee Country Nature Center, Genesee Country Village and Museum, 1410 Flint Hill Road, Mumford. $10, $8 ages 4-16, free to ages 3 and younger, festival only; $8.50, $6.50 ages 4-16, free to ages 3 and younger, breakfast only. Join us at Sweet Dream Maple Farm for Maple Weekend where our convenient roadside location is fun for the whole family. Experience tree tapping and bucket collecting outside, tour our expansive old barn with demos and lots of information on maple and of course come into the sugar house to warm up and smell that wonderful maple steam! We boil traditionally on a wood fired evaporator. Complimentary drinks and cookies will be available as well as lunch and snacks for purchase.
